Playing Games On The Move

22 April 2008

The last 12 months has seen a lot of attention towards the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii however a lot of interest has been seen in new PC games like Call of Duty 4 and all.

Despite the efforts of some, namely Alienware, gaming systems are usually labelled bulky, beastly, noisy, expensive and they are always stuck in the corner of the bedroom.

The consumer market has driven up notebook computer sales in the past two years. Laptop sales now account for around half of all PC’s sold.

Despite the fact that that the majority of users don’t need mobility or even a notebook there is something about being able to move a notebook computer from one room to another and being cable free that we all find necessary.

The only complaint for pc gamers was that the majority laptops were utterly useless for playing games. Any notebook meant for gaming was also bulky, beastly, noisy and just expensive. A lot has changed. First the Core Duo processors ensured that the mobile CPU’s caught up with their desktop equivalents. Intel have done a super job marketing centrino and being the market frontrunner but AMD has applied the necessary pressure on them with their Turion X2 line. Another contributor that has really been making gaming notebooks a reality is Nvidia.
The future is looking bright. In 2008 Intel will release the quad core mobile CPU.Nvidia will release the Geforce 9 series after having success with the 8 series.
